WELCOME

We were so happy to see such a great turnout for our September meeting!  Welcome to our new members and welcome back to current members.

Many thanks to our hospitality team, lead by Naoko and Ioulia for organizing a wonderful spread of refreshments.

If you haven’t already paid your annual dues, please remember to pay your 350NOK renewal fee before our next ICON general meeting in October, otherwise the fee is 400NOK for the year.  If you know a newcomer who would like to participate in ICON activities, please remind them to sign up and pay the annual dues.

ICON Meeting on Tuesday 16th September at 10 AM

Come join us on Tuesday and meet our new Activities Coordinator, Brigit Newbon who will give us a short presentation about all the different ICON activities.

At this meeting, you will also have the opportunity to catch up with old friends, make some new friends and sign up for an Activity or two or even more!!

As always, visitors are very welcome and may come to one meeting free of charge before needing to become members. However, we do ask that the full membership fee is paid on their second visit.

2014-2015 ICON committee 

ICON MEMBERSHIP FEES 2014-2015

The ICON Membership fee for the 2014-2015 season will be  400 NOK for the full year from Sept 2014 to Aug 2015.  However, if you pay your membership in full before the meeting in October, then this will be discounted to 350 NOK.  

For those of you who haven’t renewed your membership for 2014 – 2015 year yet, please do so ASAP either online or by cash at the September meeting. The preferred method for payment is online and full details of how to do it are described on the ICON website: http://www.icon-oslo.com/how_to_join

If paying online, please remember to include “ICON 2014-2015

Membership” AND your name in the Reference section when making your online banking payment. 

This is especially important for those of you have accounts in your spouse's or partner's name which is different to your own. This vital information will enable both the Treasurer and Membership Secretary to know for certain who has paid their fees for the coming year.

ICON ACTIVITIES

Once you have paid your subscription for the new ICON year you will be able to sign up for as many activities as you have time for.  Please note that for those returning members who wish to continue with an activity, you will need to sign up again so that the activity organizer has an updated list of participants.  Emails from the organizer will only be sent to those who have signed up

for the new year.  If you are not able to attend the meeting on

the 16th, then please contact the activity organizer directly.

the Norwegian Trekking Association, Norway's biggest outdoor activities organization.  

For some 140 years, they have been working to promote trekking and to improve conditions for all who enjoy the country's broad range of outdoor attractions.

You won't want to miss out!

HOSPITALITY NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Our lovely hostesses, Pamela and Naoko have asked for food donations for the meeting this Tuesday, May 16.  Please bring them by 10:00 so everyone can enjoy.  Also, if anyone would like to help out in the kitchen, they have a lot of fun back there!  Thank you SO much!  We can't wait to see what scrumptious items come in!

CHARITY NEWS

This beautiful hand-crafted blanket could be yours!  Each raffle ticket is 50 NOK.

If you came to the meeting in April, you got to see the unveiling of the beautiful blanket that our very own ICON Knitting Group created and so kindly donated to raise money for our charities.  We started selling tickets at the meeting, and we will sell tickets again a the beginning of the May meeting next week.  Then, we will draw our lucky winner early in the meeting.  The good news is that you can buy tickets online if you do so by Friday, May 16.  You don't HAVE to be present to win, but we'd sure love to see you there, anyway.

What's this?

Remember that we will be drawing for the blanket EARLY in the meeting.  Don't worry, though.  We will give you plenty of time to get your last minute tickets!  After we raffle-off the blanket, we will unveil another surprise we have up our sleeves!  It's an exciting time of year!

Our guest speaker, Maiko Nishino who is the Principal Ballerina in Oslo, showed us how to be a swan.  It's no easy feat!  She was absolutely amazing!

This trio, Jamie, Laura Jo and Marcia enjoyed a great day at the charity table. 
Thanks to the generosity of our members, we raised 2800 kr!  Thank you to everyone who brought in a basket for the raffle, too.  We had a lot of fun!

ICON Meeting

We are honored to announce that Maiko Nishino, a prima ballerina, will be our guest speaker.  You do NOT want to miss out!

If you haven't already done so, please respond to the email from our Membership Secretary, Karen Riding to cast your vote to approve our constitution--before the meeting, please.

Our hospitality ladies are requesting that some of you will bring some snacks for the food tables.

For Charity, we are trying something new to celebrate Spring.  We will be raffling off "Goodie Baskets" instead of our usual raffle prizes.  Now, the definition of "Goodie" is up to you.  It could be a basket of cookies and/or candy, or it could be a basket of flowers, or a basket of gardening goodies.  Anyone who wishes to bring a basket for the raffle is welcome to do so.  The more baskets, the more winners.  The raffle tickets will be the same price as always.  We are excited to see what "goodies" we will have!

Charity has also been blessed to get a wonderful knit and crochet blanket that was lovingly constructed by our own ICON Knitting Group.  While we won't actually be raffling it at our April meeting, you will be able to see it in person and start buying your tickets. It's absolutely GORGEOUS!
